I am trying to find information on the dates that my father was taring in the reserve at Dundurn. His name was Robert Joseph Payant from Assiniboia.SK.

Grant, I sent you an email requesting some additional information. The best first step when attempting to research service history of a relative is to procure their service file. Depending on the nationality of their service you have to approach usually the national archive. The service file normally provides key dates and other important information on the service member that allows some further research.

    Hi!

My father was in officer training there, beginning summer, 1943. He suffered terrible burns when he and a few others rescued the mess steward when the mess hall caught on fire. I am wanting to research the fire. I believe it was 1943/44.

Who would be my contact? Where exactly do I go? What ought I bring with me?

As a result of the fire, my dad never made it overseas – he spent much of the rest of the war in his home city of Montreal getting skin grafts.
he died at Ste Anne de Bellevue Veteran’s Hospital on January 4, 2003.

I am coming through Saskatchewan en route to Winniepg and want to make a special trip to Dundurn this coming Monday / Tuesday.
I have been advised to reach out to archives at Range Control on site.
Jim Ingram has kindly made some inquiries on my behalf and suggested I reach out to you.
    Thanks so much!
If you email me, I’ll provide my cell number, etc.
