Hello. My grandfather (David Earl Barnett) was an American who trained with the Royal Canadian Air Force sometime on or around 1941. Our family has very little information about how he ended up training with the RCAF or for how long before he went back to the U.S. as a U.S. Army Air Corp 1st Lt. We have one photograph of he and his classmates that says “M” Flight, No. 2. I.T.S. Regina, SASK., Sept. 1941. We aren’t sure if this is the class photo that marks the beginning of the program or the ending. Would love to know if you can direct me to any resources where we could locate his name specifically in the RCAF ranks to find out more about his time there. Thank you. Christina Barnett Rajmaira

There is no hard and fast rule on when or if Class Photos would be taken. It would likely be sometime near the end but that is pure speculation. Your best be would be to reach out to the library and archives of Canada to get a copy of your grandfathers service file. I will reach out via email to give you some more information.
