- 1st JUNE – The maximum number of hours were fit for flying.
A Category “D” accident occurred at approx. 1430 hours. F/O. H.L. STANSFIELD (154136), Instructor with 1625653 LAC TUCK, C.R., whilst carrying out Cross-country Navigation Exercise, struck trees with both propellors, causing damage to propellors. Investigation being held.
Two Inter-Hut Soccer League games were played off at 1830 and 1930 hours. An Exhibition Snooker Match – Corporals v. Airmen – was held in the Airmen’s Recreation Room at 1930 hours. - 2nd JUNE – Eight hours only were fit for flying.
- 3rd JUNE – NIL hours were fit for flying.

Notification was received from the AOC 2 TC that Course 109, 110, 111 and 112 are cancelled.
Next intake will be Course 113 on 14th August or Course 115 on 4th September, in accordance with amended training schedule.
A Lightning Snooker Tournament was held in the Airmen’s Recreation Room at 2000 hours. - 4th JUNE – NIL hours were fit for flying.
The usual Church Services were held on the Unit during the day.
The weekly “Fireside Hour” was held in the Canteen at 2045 hours. A film and special-programme was arranged to celebrate the Centennial of the YMCA. - 5th JUNE – NIL hours were fit for flying.
S/L. G.L. MCINTOSH (C.2251) Accts., and F/L. A.S.I. SMITH (C.12787) Equip., reported from No. 12 SFTS on Temporary Duty.
An instructors’ conference was held at 1100 hours, with 90 present. S/L. G. HOWARD, AFC, was in the chair, and the following points were discussed.- (i) Leadership Scheme – training of pupils
- (ii) Harvard aircraft on this Unit.
- (iii) Introduction of the 28-week Course.
- (iv) Met. Briefing.
- (v) No. 2 TC Instructions (in some cases contradictory).
- (vi) Use of undercarriage horn.
- (vii) Form L.14A – is it really necessary?

Softball match at 1830 hours, between A.35, CPTC, and Carberry. - 9th JUNE – Maximum number of hours fit for flying.
F/O. D.N. HUTCHINSON (49448) Tech. reported on posting from 34 SFTS – relief for F/L. FRYE - 10th JUNE – Maximum number of hours fit for flying.

At 2000 hours, a lightning Snooker Match was held in the Airmen’s Recreation Room. - 11th JUNE – Maximum number of hours fit for flying.
At 0900 hours, Roman Catholic Mass held in the station Chapel.
Usual Church Services held throughout the day.
At 2045 hours the Weekly “Fireside Hour” was held, with films on Canadian scenery. - 12th JUNE – 12 hours only fit for flying.
W/C. WALMSLEY (C.721), S/L. BRANDER (C.1848) – CSOs – & S/L. STOVEL (J.3100) GD., reported on Temporary Duty by air, and departed same day.
Two Inter-Hut Soccer League games were played off at 1830 and 1930 hours.
A recorded session of popular jazz tunes was held in the Airmen’s Lounge at 1900 hours.
The Chess Club met in the YMCA Office – Airmen’s Lounge – at 1900 hours.

Two Inter-hut football matches were played this evening.
At 1800-hours a softball Match was played between No. 12 SFTS and Carberry. - 14th JUNE – The maximum number of hours were fit for flying.
F/O. P. McDOUGALL-BLACK (145147) GD posted to 6 OTU, COMOX, BC.
S/L. DIXON (1699) Air, arrived by air from No 2 TC. Departed by air for 2 TC same day.
F/O. FAIRBURN (C13880) arrived from No. 8 SFTS. S/L. B.F. DOLMAN (Equip) proceeded to 2 TC on Temporary Duty.
A football match was held on Wembley Ground between No. 12 SFTS., BRANDON and Carberry at 1900 hrs. Result – Carberry 14 goals, Brandon 1 goal. - 15th JUNE – The maximum number of hours were fit for flying.
A category “C” accident occurred on the Main Aerodrome at 1140 hours. 1625555 LAC PAYNE, D.K., pupil pilot, with 1522203 LAC JACKSON, T., pupil pilot swung due to braked port wheel on landing after armament bombing exercise. The pilot applied opposite brake in an attempt to prevent ground looping, and nosed over. It was not possible to establish whether the brake was binding, or was applied by the pilot. LAC JACKSON was slightly injured.
S/L. E.A. DIXON (C.1699) Air Staff – arrived by air from No. 2 TC and departed for 12 SFTS same day.
S/L. W.H. BOYD (C.1165) Command MT Officer, visited the Unit on Temporary Duty.
F/O. C.W. BAIN (J.23287) visited the Unit on temporary duty from 8 SFTS., WEYBURN.
P/O. L. TURNER (54448), Tech. – proceeded on posting to No. 45 A.F.C., LACHINE.
Course No. 106 played Hut 13, and Hut 14 played Hut 20 in the Inter-Hut Football League, at 1800 and 1900 hours, respectively. - 16th JUNE – A total of eight hours only were fit for flying.
S/L. H.B. HUNTER (C.63628), No. 2 TC., visited the Station on Temporary Duty in connection with the reselection of aircrew. - 17th JUNE – A total of 17 hours were fit for flying.
S/L. B.F. DOLMAN, Senior Eq. Offr., returned from the Equipment Officers’ Conference at No. 2 TC.

- 17th JUNE (CONT) – The Station Cricket XI played the Winnipeg Juniors in the Winnipeg & District League at Assiniboine Park, WINNIPEG. Result – Carberry 133 for 9 (dec), Winnipeg Juniors 50.
A dance was held in the Sergeants’ Mess at 2000 hours. - 18th JUNE – The maximum number of hours were fit for flying.
The Usual Church Services were held on the Unit during the day.
Mr. C.V.H. DEXTER, Metrological Officer, arrived on posting from No. 1 A.O.S., MALTON.
F/O. M.H. HAWKINS (141936), Tech (Sigs) departed on temporary duty to AFHQ., OTTAWA, for the purpose of compiling instructions regarding the modification, operation and maintenance of transmitter receivers TR9D, and their installation in Aerodrome Control Vehicles throughout the Dominion.
The weekly “Fireside Hour” was held in the Canteen at 2045 hours. Films of Canadian Scenery were shown. - 19th JUNE – The maximum number of hours were fit for flying.
F/O. G.R. BERRY (139130) (A&SD-DP) proceeded to No. 31 P.D., MONCTON, for repatriation.
Two matches in the Inter-Hut Football League and an Inter-Section Cricket League Match were played off in the evening.
A Recorded Session of popular Jazz Tunes was held in the Airmen’s Lounge at 1900 hours. - 20th JUNE – A total of 22 hours was fit for flying.
P/Os J.H.B. IRVING (164734), B.R.J. WALKER (164773) and T.W. BLACKBURN (164752) – G.D. – reported on posting from No. 2 F.I.S., PEARCE, Alta.
The Station Softball Team met A.3, C.A.T.C., Camp Shilo in the Brandon & District Services League on the Station pitch at 1900 hours. Result, Carberry 1, A3; Shilo 13.
Two matches in the Inter-Hut Football League were played off at 1830 and 1930 hours. An Inter-Section Cricket League Match was played at 1830 hours.
F/L. R.V. SHEARER, Officer Commanding Air Cadet Summer Camp, arrived for the purpose of completing all arrangements. - 21st JUNE – A total of 14 hours only was fit for flying.
The Station Football XI played A. 15, CPTC, Camp Shilo, in the Brandon & District Services League at Camp Shilo, winning 10 – Nil.
The Officers’ Mess played the Sergeants’ Mess in the Inter-Section League at 1830 hours.
A party of airmen went swimming in the Pool at Brandon at 1845 hours. The Music Club held its weekly session in the G.I.S. Block at 1945 hours.
The Great West Life Concert party played to a full house in the Recreation Hall at 2015 hours.
One Officer & 37 OR’s from Nos. 182, 191 and 159 (Winnipeg) Sqdns., and 2 Officers and 37 OR’s from No. 85 (Port Arthur) Sqdn. Air Cadets Corps arrived for their summer camp at this Unit until 30th June.

- 22nd JUNE – The maximum number of hours were fit for flying.
F/L. J.C.D. TAYLOR (C.8035)(W&B) and F/L. W.A. McCALLUM (C.3652) (Fire Prevention Officer), visited the Unit on temporary duty from No. 2 TC and left by air the same day for No. 7 A.O.S.
The Station Softball Team played Headquarters, CAMP SHILO on the Station pitch at 1900 hours in a Brandon & District Services League Pitch. Result Carberry 9, Shilo 3.
Two Inter-Hut League Football Matches were played off during the evening.
An instructors’ Conference was held in the “D” Flight Crew Room at 1130 hours. S/L. G. HOWARD, AFC., gave a short lecture on the handling of Harvard aircraft, and conducted the subsequent discussion on;-- (i) Use of mixture control;
- (ii) Reports by AFU’s on SFTS pupils;
- (iii) low-level Navigation;
- (iv) Use of Form L.14A;
- (v) The programme for the Air Cadet Corps Summer Camps now commenced at this Unit.
- 23rd JUNE – The maximum number of hours were fit for flying.
S/L. R.L.AMOR, AFC (43615) & F/L. R.J. McBEY (125442) Proceeded to No. 2 FIS., PEARCE, Alta. for armament course.
F/L. BEYER, Hebrew Padre, visited the Unit on Temporary Duty. - 24th JUNE – Fifteen hours were fit for flying.
F/L. G.S. ANDREWS (118920) Med. reported on posting from No. 31 P.D., MONCT0N, NB.
The Station Football Team and No. 3 B&GS., MacDonald played a 2TC Championship Match at MACDONALD, and won, 5 goals to Nil. - 25th JUNE – A Station Church parade was held in the Recreation Hall at 0900 hours. This was followed by massed physical training and organised games.
A Decoration Day Service was held at the Cenotaph in Carberry at 1500 hrs. No. 33 SFTS led the parade with the Unit band and a flight of airmen. The salute was taken by G/C. J.S.T. FALL, DSC., AFC.
Air Commodore A.J. ASHTON visited the Unit at 1630 hours to inspect the Air Cadet Corps Summer Camp. - 26th JUNE – Sixteen hours were fit for flying.
F/O. R.C. CHURCH (C20768), Command Canteen Officer, visited the Unit in connection with the refurnishing of the Airmen’s Canteen.

- 26th June (CONT) – A meeting of the Carberry wives branch of the Winnipeg Women’s Air Force Auxiliary was held in DONALDA HOUSE, WINNIPEG, at 2000 hours, at which approximately sixty airmen’s wives attended. The business included the election of a new chairman, deputy chairman, treasurer, deputy treasurer and deputy secretary. S/L. ELLIS GREEN and S/L. (REV) D.A. Foster attended, and provided necessary and useful information regarding repatriation to the United Kingdom.
All outdoor sports activities were cancelled, owing to inclement weather. - 27th JUNE – Nil hours were fit for flying, owing to storm, and continuous rain.
Flight Officer E.M. RAYNOR (V.30187) Equip. Messing, visited the Unit from No. 2 T.C., together with Col. Jonas from Requisition and Alteration Division, War Time Prices and Trade Board, in connection with purchases made for extra messing.
All outdoor sports activities were cancelled, owing to inclement weather. - 28th JUNE – Twenty-four hours were fit for flying.
The Music Club held its weekly meeting in the G.I.S. Block at1945 hours. a “Housey-Housey” game was organised in the Recreation Hall at 1900 hours. A party of airmen were taken to swim in the YMCA pool at BRANDON, leaving at 1845 hours.
The football match against 7 AOS, PORTAGE-LA-PRAIRIE, in the 2TC Championship, and that against 17 SFTS., SOURIS, in the Brandon & District League, were both postponed owing to the pitches being unplayable.
A category “D” accident occurred at R.1., PETREL at 0810 hours. The port oleo leg of Anson II FP.748 retracted when the engine was started. F/Lt. G.J. BILLING (Pupil pilot) and F/O. A.J. MURPHY (Pupil pilot) were uninjured. - 29th JUNE – The maximum number of hours were fit for flying.
F/O. C.D. EDWARDS (131611) Tech. (sigs) reported on posting from No. 31 PD (Staff), MONCTON, to fill newly created establishment.
The Station Softball team played No. 12 SFTS at BRANDON in the Brandon & District Services League and lost, 5 – 9. - 30th JUNE – Twenty-four hours were fit for flying.
S/L. C.A. BARRETT (45759) Tech (e) and F/L. B.W. STROUD (110278) Tech(Sigs) arrived by rail on Temporary Duty from AFHQ – Central Trade Test Board.
Nos. 182, 191 and 159 (Winnipeg) Squadrons and No. 86 (Port Arthur) Squadron Air Cadet Corps departed on termination of their summer camp.
F/O. M.H. HAWKINS (141936) Tech(Sigs) returned from Temporary Duty at AFHQ. A letter was received from AFHQ expressing their appreciation of the excellent work performed by this Officer during his visit.
